Americans expect gas prices to increase by 21% this year
Monday, March 24, 2008
Gallup -- PRINCETON, NJ -- Americans predict gas prices in their area will hit $3.98 a gallon this year.

Gas Prices Are Creating Financial Hardship

A new USA Today/Gallup Poll, conducted March 14-16, 2008, shows increasing gas prices are creating financial hardship for nearly two in three American families. However, the poll also suggests that the current degree of financial hardship has yet to reach post-Katrina levels.

REVLAW I agree with you. Predict it and it will be so. We are being conditioned to accept higher prices so of course they will come.!!

Are we "driven" by polls? "...consumers may be adjusting somewhat, at least psychologically, to today's much higher gas prices..." per the article. This statement represents a part of the "conditioning of the consumer" and reflects the pshchological ploy of the "self-fulfilling prophecy." The media has long lost its credibility and usefulness as a conduit of information. The media may now well be a part of (or a servant to) the conspiracy. Perhaps while we attack the "right to keep and bear arms," we should also attack the freedoms and protections offered the press.

This is another story trying to get us use to the idea of $4 gas - so we shrug our shoulders and say oh well when it happens. Sigh.

I'll be glad if gas ONLY gets to $3.98/gallon here... I'm think lots worse with "W" still dumbly ignoring the situation and our own "Governator" cutting service to citizens while supporting the illegals... it will be a major miracle if we survive these two

Big companies like the gas companies can't understand what us the little people have to go through to be able to afford food, gas and to keep a roof over our heads. If prices keep going up, we aren't going to have much left.

If 21%, then you will be likely, the jump in spring & switchover of blending is usually higher than this....let alone any other factors that may make it go up.

Lets all mess with the pollsters and tell them we expect $2 per gallon gas and see if the market responds. I think they are just checking to see how high they can make it go

This is old news posted yesterday.

Also, Gallop demonstrates (if their polls are NOT biased) that our confidence in gas pricing is very low.

If public feeling is for prices to increase, contradictory to the Bloomberg article, then prices will probably increase...

Careful how you answer a surveyor.

As prices have gone up over the past two years we have become somewhat inured to the increases. People will lower their use of oit as the money to purchase it must come from somewhere else in the budget.

I am trying to average 30 miles of driving per day. At an average 40 mpg (an average of the Corolla and Prius), that is five gallons per week. I am paying about 75 cents per gallon more since last year $3.25 c. $2.50. That costs me $3.75 more per week. I don't like having to pay oil profits, but it is tolerable. If I had to pay it, I'd rather see it go to a tax to fund R & D in renewable energy.

The administration has to let the Saudis charge more for oil because they are buying U.S. debt to fund the war. In 2005 Saudis bought $311 billion of U.S. treasury bonds.
